Am only 24 weeks pregnant but I already understand what other expecting mothers go through carrying that extra weight around in hot weather and having a higher temperature then normal doesn’t help either. I never knew what the big deal was with being pregnant during the summer until we got this hot weather, now I understand why everyone was feeling sorry for me for being pregnant during the summer.
With it being too hot outside for me to go very far, I have been lazing around in my room with the fan on and all the windows wide open while trying to feel my little boy moving around and kicking me, I have even been looking on the internet for some tips to help me stay cool in this heat.
What I have been doing is just having loads of ice lollies and ice cold water, but with our house being 29 degrees the bottled water I had been getting out of the freezer would be completely melted in an hour or so.
Another good way I have found to cool down is just to get a massive bowl of cold water and put your feet into the bowl for 5 to 10 minutes, this was far the best way for me to cool down and relax at the same time.
I have been told not to stay outside for too long during the middle of the day but couldn’t help but grab a pregnancy book and sit outside to read, only to get told of by the wife for not putting any sun screen on, I should know better not to go out without sun screen on as my father died from skin cancer when I was sixteen.
It’s not been any fun trying to sleep at night either with our bedroom also clocking in at 30 degrees during the day even with the curtains closed and windows open, going to feel sorry for my little boy next year sleeping in this room, if we get blessed with this hot weather again and with this country it is a big If. I normally get heat rash on my feet during the summer and it seems to be worse at night even though I have been trying my level best to keep it at bay, been wearing flip flops and applying cream given to me by the doctor to easy it, dame my sensitive skin.
How do you cope with the hot weather? Would love to hear your advice and tips people, so why not get in touch or visit our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MummyMamaAndMe.
